Re-Arched

"Re-Arched"
9" x12"
Acrylic on canvas panel
I revisited the theme of arches and swirls again, and probably for the final time, at least for a while, tonight.  This time I used direct complements — red orange and glue green. White and black were used to change the shades, tints and tones.

Thank you all who wrote to me during this experimental time. I appreciated your comments and encouragement. Now on to other things!

Then There Was … Sun

"Then There Was … Sun"
6" x 6"
Oil on Hardboard
That morning the sun, frizzed by clouds that would burn off within minutes, lifted her head off the pillow of the island and set out to brighten spirits wherever she shone.

I enjoyed the effort of keeping the colors clean and pure as I placed complements next to one another.  Satisfying… yes.

Complements

"Complements"
5" x 5"
Oil on hardboard
It was fun to watch the sky demonstrate direct complementary colors before my eyes the other night. What better place to do such a demo than the pretty big sky over the plains.
