Beached

"Beached"
5" x 7"
Oil on hardboard
In the soft peach light of the predawn, the water, sky and sand had "gotten the memo" as they say, when everyone chooses to wear the same color on the same day. Everyone, that is, but the beached rocks, who decided to show up in shades purple.

Evening Pines

"Evening Pines"
8" x 6"
Oil on hardboard

As the sun sank, the sky turned one of those food colors. You know — salmon, melon, mango, peach. It was a handsome backdrop for the lacy pines in my neighborhood.

This little painting was done on a pretty textured panel. It looks good in person, but not fab in the photo.

Tree of Life

"Tree of Life"
18" x 24"
Acrylic on wrapped canvas
My Tree of Life curls just like life itself.  You never know from one minute to the next what will change and how that change will impact your life. "Buckle up," I say, "It could be a wild ride."

This is my attempt at making a Tree of Life style with paint, instead of with fractal-generating software.  The background is troweled-on plaster and faux finished like I used to do on walls. It's very textural, both visually and to the touch.

I'm happy you are here with me today.

Ghost Island

"Ghost Island"
12" x 12"
Oil on panel
Not too far from the cabin was this little island.  I saw it during the day and it was unremarkable, but in morning's magical light, she struck a ghostly pose, against the pink sky.

I like knowing that light changes the story I get to tell about the simplest objects.  I would have neglected this little mound of rocks with three trees on it, had I not known about atmospheric conditions.

Thank you for floating by today.

Morning Light

"Morning Light"
12" x 12"
Oil on wrapped canvas
There's a path near where I live that winds through a woods.  It's cool on the hottest day and always peaceful, despite its proximity to motorized civilization

Morning Light is painted on a peachy ground with reds to dull the greens, except where springtime is meant to show.

This painting is listed with, and for purchase on a Dailypaintworks Auction.

Thank you for checking in.
