Forty Degrees

Somewhere in the northwest it was forty degrees today. The snow had melted, last year's weeds added texture to the foreground and the sky over the hills shared its color with a body of water. 

Soon our snow will be gone, especially if it warms up to forty degrees.

I photographed this scene in Rocky Mountain National Park in August a few years ago. I loved the colors and the scale of every element in the landscape. It was not far from here that I saw my first moose and her calf.  I'll never forget that moose.
